Nicola Roberts

This month I have been listening to Nicola Roberts on repeat. I love her album Cinderella's Eyes, so fun and pretty :) My highlights are the title track and Porcelain Heart. And she is so pretty.

Wall.E

Er..and I finally saw this...and got totally involved in the robot love story between Wall-E and Eve. I almost shed tears. Mild shame. But I think the film is lovely, I want to own it, the depiction of a destroyed, abandoned, empty earth was well done. Depressingly, I see this future. But without the hopeful ending. Boo.

Let's end this post happily though.. yay for robots that turn into cubes when they are scared! :D

2001 A Space Odyssey

Watched this with my dad...barely paying attention at first...but by the end I really liked it...despite not really understanding. I like stories with human versus robot where the robot is going wrong because of the way it thinks. Like I, Robot (book not film).

Obvious highlight being the man clock saying hello. Also, the guardian posters on the way, tweet magazine, worm sausages and bird claw boots :D Attention to detail! Oh yes.

Cheek to Cheek

My friend Frances who dances has done this lovely lovely dance film :) I love the use of shadow and reflection and the blend of happiness with melancholy. It's about loneliness and memories but it feels uplifting to me :) Good times.

My favourite bit of Bug Bazaar @ Millenium Gallery

Visited my gran in Sheffield for her birthday this weekend and saw the Bug Bazaar exhibition at the Millenium gallery...this video was my highlight - While Darwin Sleeps by Paul Bush. This is a section of his film showing 3000 species of insect at one frame each...it's stunning. I marvel at how beautiful insects are and how MANY there are! And amazing variation. Yet I find them so repulsive at the same time. The film goes on and makes it seem as though insects are trying to escape from being pinned in collections...

Wanted

I watched the film and read the graphic novel. I enjoyed both. Very fun. I enjoyed the slick fantastical violence in the film. (is that wrong?) The stories are completely different just with the same sort of theme of everyone does nothing and are dissatisfied and they should do something? The comic had a bit too much rape and shit in it though...I was embarrassed cuz I could sense people next to me on the bus looking over my shoulder. Lolz.
