Finally finished practice dress!

Spent all day yesterday sewing and can't quite believe I've made a dress! This was the test run made with old curtains/quilts I had but I think it's wearable and I'm happy because I love these fabrics and so pleased they've been made into something. It's not perfect but it's not bad! Yay! Now to make the actual dress, which will be bright yellow.

Venturing to make a dress

It has been over ten years since I last made clothing from a pattern....but I felt an urge. This could go so horribly wrong and lead to tears of rage and frustration. I do hope it leads to lots of lovely dresses though!

25 : 365

I have decided to do this 365 thing that I've seen being done at Afeitar (a pretty blog I like to read). You take a picture every day for a year and then you have a year captured in photographs. I think its a flickr thing, I'll look into that later, for now I'm doing it here for myself, starting from yesterday, my 25th birthday, rather than the start of the year. I'm going to capture my 25th year.

empig & stupig are to wedpig <3

I've not posted much lately, partially due to extreme engagement excitement. All I'm really thinking is wedding right now....so my posts will be a bit wedding themed for a bit.

It's going to be in autumn amidst fallen leaves! :D Reception is in a pub with a hog roast, and as you see from my little mood board, primary colours and jamjars galore!

I'm very much looking forward to decorating the pub and making all these bit and pieces. It's going to involve a lot of paper, cutting, folding and ribbon!

I'm also making my own dress but I guess I won't put any pictures up of that in case Stu looks :)

New home - decorated by shadow and books!

I made these shadow lamps about 3 years ago, and they have never given so good an effect as they do in out new little flat. Mr Emmie and I have just moved, cramming ourselves into a little studio...so far it seems fine, nice and cosy :) and I'm thrilled with the beautiful shadows. I almost don't wnt to hang my Babar picture...

shadows to blinds...

Now I'm making linen blinds with shadow casters attached behind. Trying to sort out the sustainability of linen...so far I think it's pretty good...apart from the bleaching...but I want it white! Thinking thinking.

playing with my window

Experimentation with shadows....cut paper and plastic attached to my window casting shadow on the curtain. It's not final design work but it's lovely because it keeps surprising me...I only get the sun late afternoon so I'll be working and suddenly Bam! I'll realise I'm surrounded by shadow of light!

Book Colours....reorganising the bookshelf...

I was overcome by a bizarre urge to organise my books by colour :D All I feel now, is why did I never do this before! Eggs.

Also, not just for me, but for my project...hello colours!

Work in Progress Show - Re:Future

My work - print on paper, only visible as shadow when light shines through

Min Nyoung Seo's work - Craft recycling cork, cardboard and carrier bags

Clover Robin's work - layered ghostly photography for wallpaper

I think the show went well :) I had some positive feedback, which is lovely and encouraging to hear. Also, a shove to get industry contacts...I know I should...but it's very daunting!
